Unit-VU
LINE IN
shows the line input level. As the input does not have an
analog volume control, the output level of the connected device
must be set so the line input signal keeps below maximum. The
mode of the input (mono or stereo) can be set on the UNIT-OUT
page. The volume level in the mix can be set on the UNIT-MIX page.
1 2
show the level of output 1 and 2. They can provide bus 1+2, the
mix or submix bus. The latter two can be controlled by the LEVEL
knob or be at a fixed level (see UNIT-OUT).
3 4
show the level of output 3 and 4. They always provide bus 3+4
at a fixed level.
5 6
show the level of output 5 and 6. They always provide bus 5+6
at a fixed level.
PHONES
shows the headphones level. The phones can provide the
mix, submix, 1+2, 3+4, 5+6 or 7+8 bus. The volume is set with the
LEVEL knob except for the 7+8! bus selection (see UNIT-OUT).
The VU meters show the actual peak signal level on the audio inputs
and outputs. To maintain optimum signal quality, it is recommended
to keep these signals reasonably high, however, to avoid clipping
make sure the top VU segment isn't lit too often. Each segment on
the VU meter represents 6 dB.
