7 Setting Up And Getting Started
Now that you have got yourself
a general idea on the previous pages, let’s get in action: Set up the
DrumIt Five kit (see separate instructions) and hook up the pads either according to your own ideas, or
to the factory recommendations.
Pads and Triggers
If you are using the DrumIt Five pads and have them wired as specified, you only need to calibrate the
hihat (see chapter Fehler! Verweisquelle konnte nicht gefunden werden.
Fehler! Verweisquelle konnte
nicht gefunden werden.on page 25) and you can start immediately. If you use pads or triggers from other
manufacturers with the DrumIt Five module, you may have to change trigger settings because the
factory defaults were naturally optimized with DrumIt Five pads in mind. On page 47Seite 47
you’ll find
how to adjust trigger settings.
Monitoring
To hear the sound of your new e-drums, you need to either plug in headphones or connect the DrumIt
Five module to a PA system, a mixer or an amplifier. Adjust the volume with the volume control. In the
factory default setting, the headphone signal will be softer or louder in the same ratio as the sum signal
„Main Out“ (OUT1·2).
Output-
Options
The DrumIt Five offers an optimal "output" solution for every use. From a simple stereo main
mix on the headphones to individual monitor and playback setups, you can create almost
anything with the routing capabilities of the DrumIt Five. Up to eight individual output (direct
out) ) signals can be used for live or studio applications. A detailed description of the most
important options and suggestions for creative applications can be found starting at page 64.
Connecting The DrumIt Five
The DrumIt Five is designed for the use with pro audio equipment (PA, mixer, audio
interface, amplifier, etc.) and with headphones. On standard consumer audio systems, the
tweeters of the connected speakers can be easily damaged by the relatively high dynamics
of the output signal, so therefore take care what devices you plug the DrumIt Five to.
Always start with a low volume and then increase gradually.
