OfficeConnect Remote Rear Panel Features
POWER
The power outlet (marked 10-30V DC 2A MAX) is found on
the far left of the rear panel.
CAUTION:
Only use the power adapter supplied with the unit to
connect to the mains power supply. Do not use any other power
adapter with this unit. If the plug on the power adapter does not
match the mains inlet socket, contact your 3Com reseller for further
advice

RESET
The reset button is for 3Com Technical Support use only.
SERIAL
The Serial Manager port allows a management PC or
terminal to be connected to the OfficeConnect Remote using the
9-pin V.24 Serial Manager cable supplied with the unit. The port
provides VT100 terminal emulation, running at 9600 bps. Refer to
Appendix A
for more information about cables.
A proprietary communications software package such as Windows
95 HyperTerminal is needed in order to communicate with
OfficeConnect Remote.
COAX
The coaxial LAN port allows a 10Base2 Ethernet segment to
be connected directly to the OfficeConnect Remote unit. If the unit is
installed at the end of a cable run, a 50 Ohm terminator must be
fitted to the 10Base2 cable connector. Use this port to connect to
OfficeConnect hubs.
MDI/MDIX
The MDI/MDIX switch affects the operation of the
10Base-T LAN port. If connecting to a hub, set the switch to the
