Fields File
The fields file (
3Com.fld
) specifies the 3Com database fields used to
customize the OpenView Network Node Manager or NetView database.
These fields are used to identify the capabilities of 3Com devices, and you
can use these fields in conjunction with your own customizations.
The fields files are located here:

UNIX –
/etc/opt/OV/share/fields/C
■
Windows –
C:\Program Files\HP Openview\NNM\fields\C
You can also use the OpenView or NetView Find facility to search for
objects with these properties. The 3Com fields are:
■
is3ComConnector – identifies the device as a 3Com device
■
is3ComDvManaged – specifies that the device supports the 3Com
Device View product
■
is3ComNOTHTTPSupported – identifies devices that have a Web
interface but may not be supported by both Windows and UNIX
browsers
■
is3ComHTTPSupported8081 – identifies web caches that use port
8081 instead of port 80 for web configuration
Other fields are automatically set by Network Node Manager during
discovery. The most important HP fields are:

isIP
■
isBridge for switches
■
isHub for hubs
■
isHTTPSupported for web-enabled devices
