Running the Setup Program
Accessing the Setup Program
The Home Wireless Gateway setup program is Web-based, which means that
it is accessed through your Web browser running on your Windows or
Macintosh computer (Netscape Navigator or Internet Explorer).
Remember that a connection to the Internet is not required to set up or use
the 3Com Home Wireless Gateway.
1 Turn on your modem and home wireless gateway.
2 If you have not yet done so, connect the gateway to one of your
computers.
See “Connecting the Wireless Gateway to Your Network” on page 13 to
connect the computer to the gateway.
3 Launch your Web browser on one of your networked computers.
If your gateway is connected to the Internet through a cable or DSL
modem when it is powered up, it will automatically attempt to collect
networking setup information from your Internet Service Provider (ISP).
4 Type the following Internet Protocol (IP) address in the location or
address field of your browser: 192.168.2.1 (Figure 9)

on the keyboard of your computer. The Home Wireless
Gateway main screen will appear (Figure 10). You are now in
direct communication with your home wireless gateway using
your web browser.
NOTE:
At this point, you do not have to worry about your Internet
connection. Regardless of whether your Web browser succeeds or fails to
gain access to the Internet, complete this procedure first, then proceed to
“Setting Up Your Home Wireless Gateway” for procedures to set up an
Internet connection, if desired.
