Each message is composed of information elements that carry the details
of the message.
Displaying Signaling Messages
To display signaling messages statistics, see “Signaling Statistics” on page
247 in the Management Guide.
SETUP Message
The SETUP signaling message initiates the procedure for setting up the
connection. It carries with it the requirements for the call. The network
and the receiving device must accept these requirements or the
connection cannot be completed.
The SETUP message contains the following elements:
Destination station address
Connection identifier VPI/VCI proposal
Network service
ATM traffic descriptors
QoS class
Transit network
AAL parameters
CALL-PROCEEDING
Message
The CALL-PROCEEDING signaling message is sent optionally in response
to the SETUP command. It indicates that the network has accepted the
requirements and the system is continuing to set up the call through to
the receiving station. The CALL-PROCEEDING message includes the
VPI/VCI message element.
The CALL-PROCEEDING message can be suppressed by the system to
make the signaling operation more efficient (see “Update
