CALL-PROCEEDING Suppression” on page 208 in the Management
Guide).
CONNECT Message
The CONNECT signaling message is sent in response to the SETUP
command. It indicates that the receiving side of the connection has
accepted the requirements and the call setup is complete. The CONNECT
message also includes the VPI/VCI message element.
ADD PARTY Message
The ADD PARTY message sets up point-to-multipoint connections
between a source
root
station and the destination
leaf
stations. After a
root connection is established between the root station and one of the
leaf stations via the SETUP message, additional connections between the
root station and the other leaf stations are established by the ADD PARTY
message. The ADD PARTY message contains the same QoS and traffic
parameters that the SETUP message used to set up the root connection.
Signaling Protocol
Profile
In the CoreBuilder 7000 family ATM switch, the signaling protocol
profile
of a port defines the role that the port plays in the signaling dialog with
its attached ATM device. The profile can be either
network
or
user
. When
the CoreBuilder 7000 family ATM switch port is connected to an
end-station or edge device, the CoreBuilder 7000 family ATM switch port
is normally defined as network (Net). When the CoreBuilder 7000 family
ATM switch is connected to another CoreBuilder 7000 family ATM
switch, the port of the CoreBuilder 7000 family ATM switch with the
highest Network Prefix is assigned the network profile and the port of the
other CoreBuilder 7000 family ATM switch is assigned the user (Usr)
profile.
One difference between the two profiles is that the user port initiates the
ATM connection by sending a SETUP message, but the network port
defines the VPI/VCI pair for the ATM connection. Thus, if an ATM user
sends a SETUP message to a CoreBuilder 7000 family ATM switch port,
the VPI/VCI message element is left empty. The switch proposes a VPI/VCI
pair for the connection and sends it back to the user as part of the CALL
PROCEEDING message or, in case there is none, as part of the CONNECT
message. The CONNECT message is sent by the switch to the user only
after the switch has received a CONNECT message from the call
destination.
