The local change of attribute mechanism causes the ILMI in both switches
to restart, and the flash values—UNI 4.0 in both switches—are loaded as
current values. Auto-configuration now sees that both A and B are UNI
4.0 and makes no further change.
The same method can be used with other configuration variables.
Manual Configuration
When auto-configuration is disabled, or when the peer side does not
report the maximum value for the configured type, the ILMI uses the user
settings for configuring the signaling stack. You can configure each and
every parameter via LMA.
Modification of Local
Attribute
When you change any of the following parameters in the Virtual Path
Group or in the Virtual Channel Group by manual configuration, an
appropriate ILMI trap is issued to notify the peer IME and both ILMIs are
restarted automatically to ensure synchronization.

Restart ILMI
The IME performs the following operations after parameters to the local
switch have been modified:
1
Declares ILMI connectivity to be lost.
2
Informs its UNI [UNI4.0] or PNNI [PNNI1.0] signalling entity to disconnect
all connections.
3
Resets the local sysUpTime to zero.
