Fast BUS
The Fast BUS is a LANE utility board for the CoreBuilder 7000 family ATM
switch which is specially designed for use in high multicast environments
to support applications such as video conferencing, video distribution and
video LAN which demand a constant level of dedicated performance.
The Fast BUS is based on the ZipChip ASIC implementation and utilizes
the power of this hardware to forward Broadcast, Multicast and
Unknown Unicast traffic.
The characteristics of the Fast BUS are:
■
Maximum BUS capacity per ELAN: 60 Mbps (89,286 frames/sec @ 64
byte frames)
■
Maximum BUS capacity per Fast BUS boards: 120 Mbps (179,572
frames/sec @ 64 byte frames)
■
Maximum number of Fast BUS instances per board: 12
Switch Processors
An on-board i960 processor handles all advanced software features
including SVC (Switched Virtual Connection) signaling and SNMP (Simple
Network Management Protocol) management.
The Transputer is a dedicated chip used for communication with the 4
Port and 8 Port ATM Interface Cards. The ALC matrix is used to
communicate with 7x00 Interface Cards.
