ROUBLESHOOTING
If your communications server does not start up as described in Chapter 3,
“Startup,” or fails during operation, review the following troubleshooting
hints. If you cannot solve the problem, contact 3Com or your network
supplier. Refer to Appendix D,
Technical Support
,” for technical support
information.
Startup Problems
This section lists problems the CS/3000 series server can experience during
its startup sequence (self-test and boot processes). These problems are
indicated by abnormal behavior of front-panel LEDs or by error messages
on the console.
Symptom
At initial power-on or during a reset, Power and Self Test LEDs fail to light.
Meaning
There is no power to the server.
Action
Turn off the server by pressing the O side of the power switch, then:
1
Verify that the power cord is plugged securely into the power supply
module.
2
Verify that the power cord is connected to an outlet.
3
Ensure that power is available at the outlet you are using.
4
Inspect the server’s fuse and replace it, if necessary. For instructions, refer to
“Replacing the Fuse”.
5
Try replacing the power cord.
If the Power and Self Test LEDs still fail to light, contact 3Com or your
network supplier.
