Setting Up an Echo Server
If your echo server contains a 3C509B NIC, select
Echo
Server
under the
Test
menu, and click the
Start
button to
make the computer an echo server.
If you are setting up an echo server using a 3Com NIC
other than a 3C509B NIC, follow these steps:
1 Select a computer to use as an echo server.
2 Insert the
EtherDisk
diskette in a floppy drive.
The diagnostic program comes on the
EtherDisk
diskette
that accompanied the NIC.
3 Start the diagnostic program on the echo server.
The diagnostic program that you use depends on the
NIC that is installed in the echo server. After the system
prompt of the drive containing the Configuration and
Diagnostic Program, enter the appropriate diagnostic
program name from Table 5-1.
