Example 1: If you select
Change Extension
from the Operation list, the
NBX 100 replaces the selected extension with the number you type in the
text box.
Example 2: If you select
Strip Leading Digits
from the list, and type the
number 2 in the text box, the NBX 100 strips (removes) two digits from
the beginning of the extension.

. The changes take effect
unless
the requested change creates
a duplicate extension or an extension of zero length.
Example: If you select extensions 100 through 109 and try to strip one
trailing digit, the NBX 100 does not make the change, because the result
would be a series of identical numbers (all would be 10).

Managing Extension
Lists
An extension list contains extension numbers such as telephone
extensions or those extensions assigned to Digital Line Card ports. Each
extension list ID is a 4-digit number preceded by an asterisk.
Example: Extension lists are typically numbered upward from *0001 in
either a 3-digit or 4-digit plan. Although these numbers are similar to
extensions, the NBX 100 identifies an extension list by the asterisk and
prevents you from directly dialing that number.
This section tells you how to add, modify, and remove an extension list.
Adding an E
xtension List
This section tells you how to add an extension list to the Dial Plan. You
can add an extension list to define a subset of the total list for specific
devices such as FAX machines.
CAUTION:
If you add an extension list you must change the dial plan
configuration file
(page 63)
to create a destination route to the new list.
This enables the system to route calls to the new list.
