Configuring
PPP-based WANs
The following procedure describes how to configure (create) your WAN
settings for the following PPP-based WAN configurations:
■
PPPoE (Point-to-Point Protocol over Ethernet)
■
PPPoA (LLC-SNAP) (Point-to-Point Protocol over ATM)
(with Logical Link Control (LLC) - Sub Network Access Protocol (SNAP)
encapsulation)
■
PPPoA (VC-Mux) (Point-to-Point Protocol over ATM)
with Virtual Circuit Multiplexing (VC-Mux) encapsulation)
A PPP-based WAN Configuration requires a PPP (Point-to-Point) Login
Account (User Name and Password) with your Service Provider. This
information will be provided by your Service Provider.
You can create, modify and delete your PPP WAN Configurations. Refer
to the
Modifying Your WAN Protocols
section in this chapter for
information on how to modify your currently configured WAN protocols.
If you want to delete a configured WAN protocol, refer to the
Deleting
Your WAN Protocols
section.
The following illustration shows the WAN Configuration page that is
displayed when a PPP Wan protocol
(PPPoe, PPPoA (LLC-SNAP), or PPPoA
(VC-Mux))
is selected in the
WAN Protocol
drop-down menu. For this
example, PPPoE was selected.
