Setting Ring Speed for Windows NT 4.0
Auto ring speed detection permits the 3C359B NIC’s
NDIS 5 or NDIS 4 driver to detect and operate at the
current ring data rate. Auto ring speed detection is
automatically enabled when you load the driver for
Windows NT 4.0.
You can choose the following ring speed options:
■
Enable auto ring speed detection (default setting)
■
Disable auto ring speed detection and manually set the
NIC ring speed to 16 Mbps or 4 Mbps
To access the ring speed detection option in a Windows NT
environment, follow these steps:
1 In the My Computer group, double-click the
Control Panel icon.
2 In the Control Panel group, double-click the
Network icon.
3 In the Network dialog box, click the Adapters tab.
4 In the Adapters tab, select 3Com TokenLink Velocity
XL PCI Adapter and click Properties.
The 3Com TokenLink Velocity XL PCI Adapter dialog box
appears, as shown in Figure 10.
5 To manually set the ring speed, position the mouse
pointer on the down arrow button in the Ring Speed
Detection field. Press and hold down the left mouse
