Back Up the UMS Database
On the running server, back up the UMS database. For instructions, see
the UMS Operations and System Administration Guide.
Stop all VCX Processes
On the running server, log in as
root
and enter these commands:
cd /etc/rc.d/rc6.d
./K01vcx stop
Drop Database Replication

On the Master Definition Server, log in as
cworks
.

Enter these commands:
cd /opt/3com/VCX/auth/bin
./dropReplication

Back up the Oracle database on the running server.
For instructions on how to back up the Oracle database, see the
VCX
Administration Guide.

Transfer the Oracle database backup files from the running server to the
down server. See the VCX System Administration Guide for instructions.

Restore the database on the down server. See the VCX System
Administration Guide for instructions.

Setting Up Oracle Database Replication

On the running server, log in as
cworks
.

Enter these commands:
cd /opt/3com/VCX/auth/bin
./setupReplication
If you see any error messages when you run the setupReplication script,
drop replication (see
earlier in this
procedure) and run the setupReplication script again.
The script asks for the IP addresses of the two servers and then checks the
replication state of the authentication databases on them. After the
check, database replication begins.
