Using Threadlocker on the Pedal Threads

We provide a small bottle of Blue threadlocker with every bike. Only use it if you need it.

Who Needs to Use the Threadlocker?

If you plan to pedal the bike backwards, you will need to use the threadlocker. Pedaling

the bike backwards can loosen the pedals over time. The threadlocker will prevent this.

If the pedals come loose when using the bike, you should immediately stop using the

bike and apply the threadlocker to the pedal threads. Using the bike with loose pedals

will eventually damage the crank arm threads. Crank arm thread damage is not

covered under the warranty.

How to Apply the Threadlocker

1.

If the pedals are already installed on the bike, you will need to remove them in order to

apply the threadlocker.

2.

Apply the threadlocker to the pedal threads.

3.

Screw the pedals in and tighten with the tool that comes with the bike. Make sure the

pedals are tight. If you no longer have this tool you can use a 15mm open-end wrench.

4.

You should wait 24 hours before you pedal the bike backwards.

Where Can I Get More Blue Threadlocker?

If the pedals come loose and you no longer have the provided bottle of threadlocker, you can

purchase Blue Loctite® at any hardware store or at an online store like Amazon.com. Make

sure it is Blue Loctite®. Red Loctite® will make it nearly impossible to remove the pedal.

If You Need to Remove the Pedals.

The Blue threadlocker keeps the pedals from coming undone. It also makes them harder to

remove in the event that you need to replace them. You will need to use a 15mm open-end

wrench to remove the pedals. If you have trouble removing the pedals, you can take the bike

to a local bike shop to do this for you.
