As the final step of slide preparation, check that the surfaces of the glass slide are
clean (free from residue of mounting media, fingerprints and markers), and the
mounting media is dried so the coverslip is fixed.

Affixing Barcode Labels to Slides
This section describes how to affix barcode labels to slides.
Caution!
Barcodes must be placed on the frosted end (label area) of each slide as case identifiers to
enable virtual slide identification.
Caution!
Ensure that a marginal space of 1-2 mm remains on all sides between the label and the label
area outer limits. It is vital for barcode identification. Do not let barcode label protrude from
slide edges, or stick on the coverslip surface (

). The thickness of the barcode
label on the slide must not exceed 0.4 mm and the overall thickness must be kept below 1.65
mm (including the barcodes and the slide).
