Filter Cartridge Replacement Instructions
NOTICE
To reduce the risk associated with property damage due to water leakage or flooding:
• Change the disposable filter cartridge at the recommended interval; the disposable filter cartridge MUST
be replaced every 6 months or sooner
Filter life depends on local water conditions and the volume of water used. We recommend you change your
filter as prescribed by the filter documentation. However, it can be replaced earlier if there is a drop in water
pressure. You can use a variety of cartridges with the AP800 Series housings: AP810, AP811, AP810-2, and
AP811-2 for sediment; AP817, AP817-2 for sediment, chlorine taste & odor.
NOTE: Before changing cartridge, turn off main water supply. Place a bucket under filter to catch the small
amount of water that will run out after housing removal.
1. Turn off the water supply and close shut-off valve after filter head.
2. Relieve pressure in filter housing by unscrewing the vent-valve cap on the housing.
3. Unscrew housing (to the left) using housing wrench supplied with the product and discard old cartridge.
Wash the inside housing thoroughly with mild soap and water.
4. Remove and clean o-ring from housing, apply silicone grease to the o-ring and reposition onto housing.
5. Place new cartridge in housing and screw the housing into the filter head, slowly turning the housing by
hand while maintaining vertical alignment and a constant upward pressure. The housing should thread
fully into the filter head; if any external housing threads are exposed after tightening, disassemble and
repeat steps 4-5. Then use the supplied wrench to apply a light snug fit.
NOTICE: Overtightening could result in a housing crack which may lead to fluid leaking.
6. Slowly turn on main water supply. Open main shut-off valve and check for leaks.
7. Ensure the vent-valve cap on the filter head is open, and wait for air to purge. Screw in the vent-valve and
tighten. Check for leaks. Tighten housing as needed with the supplied wrench. Open shut-off valve after
filter head.
8. Flush at least 10.5 gallons through system.

Troubleshooting Guide
Water Leaks at Fittings:
Tighten slightly until leak stops.
If Leaks Persist:
Shut off water at the main water supply shut-off valve, remove threaded fittings, reapply PTFE tape in a
clockwise direction (to the right) and screw back onto head assembly.
