CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE
Use a cloth wetted with soap and warm water to clean the outer shells, headband and ear
cushions. Do not clean with solvents such as alcohol or acetone, or with waterless hand
cleaners or products containing lanolin.
NOTE:
This headset is designed to withstand brief, shallow water immersion, including saltwater.
Following water exposure and immersion, the headset should be dried using the instructions listed
above. Once dry, the user should perform a visual inspection and perform a functions test. If the
visual inspection reveals salt crystal formation, the headset should be quickly rinsed with fresh
water and allowed to dry.
If the hearing protector gets wet from rain or sweat, turn the earmuffs outwards, remove the ear
cushions and foam liners, and allow to dry before reassembly. The ear cushions and foam liners
may deteriorate with use and should be examined at regular intervals for cracking and other
damage. When used regularly, 3M recommends replacing the foam liners and ear cushions at
least twice a year to maintain consistent attenuation, hygiene, and comfort. If an ear cushion is
damaged, it should be replaced. See Headset Spare Parts and Accessories below.

REPLACING MICROPHONE WINDSCREENS
IMPORTANT:
The windscreens covering the environmental mics and communications mic help
reduce the effects of wind noise on environmental listening and communications.
Inspect the headset for missing or damaged windscreens and replace as needed.
