TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION
S I N G L E PLUG & PLAY PCB
The AM04-1
jumpers or DIP switch setting on each circuit board to
allow multiple units to operate in close proximity to each other.
Most of jumpers and switches has been removed on the circuit. now, all function of these jumpers we
are removed will be done automatically by "software", therefor AM04-01 become a
"Plug
& Play"
system. All you have to do in most cases, it is to fit the antenna, and plug the power on. It's done.
The transmitter/receiver is alternately gated on and off. A microprocessor supplies all gating and
control signals to insure that the transmitter and receiver are enabled at the proper times. A common
loop antenna is shared between the transmitter and the receiver. The AM04-1 is powered by a
step-down transformer that is plugged into a standard AC wall outlet.
The transmitter, receiver, DC power supply, digital processing, and alarm circuitry are all contained on
a single PC board. A microprocessor performs most of the critical functions required for proper system
operation.
After an initialization period at turn-on, an enabling pulse generated by the microprocessor is supplied
to the transmitter at a specified rate. This pulse turns on the transmitter for the pulse duration only. The
RF output remains at zero for the remainder of the period. After the transmitter pulse there is a defined
waiting period when neither the transmitter nor the receiver is enabled. Although the receiver is active
during this time, no data is coupled to the digital processing circuitry. After the waiting period, the
stored data is passed on to the microprocessor for analysis.
Data received by the microprocessor is analyzed and compared to digitally stored programming, and if
the proper conditions are met, an output to the alarm circuitry is generated. The alarm can be audible
(internal sounder), visual (antenna light), or both.
The reaction of the system to the introduction of a label has been greatly improved to further reduce
the chance of deactivating a label in the system.
