Getting started
You want to get to know the Aastra 470 communication server from the
scratch. This document will help you to quickly set up an Aastra 470 communi-
cation server and some phones for self training purposes. After working
through this document you can make internal calls between the different
type of phones connected to the server. Further more you have a perfect con-
figuration platform to learn more about the system, its features and expan-
sion possibilities. Note that there are different ways how to do this. To keep
this document as simple as possible only one way is described in the following
chapters.

Recommended components:
• Aastra 470 communication server with mains cable. Without any additional in-
terface cards, Aastra 470 has 4 analogue (FXS) terminal interfaces.
• Some system phones like digital and IP system phones from the Aastra 5300 se-
ries and SIP phones from the Aastra 6700i series.
• Some phone expansion modules for the IP and SIP phones as well as power
adapters if PoE is not available.
• A DSI interface card to connect the digital system phones.
• DSP resources (DSP modules, IP media modules) for later expansion with DECT,
enterprise voice mail, SIP exchange or other configuration using additional DSP
resources).
Required tools:
• Torx screwdriver T10 and T20
• Phillips screwdrivers size 1
• Windows computer (notebook) with a network interface and a web browser.
• Aastra System Search application as of 2.0.0.1 installed on the computer.
