Customizing Announcements for Aastra CNX Language Packs
Customizing an announcement file
Description
This section provides a procedure to open, edit, record, and save an audio
announcement file.
The key characteristics of each Aastra CNX announcement file (
.pcm
file) are:
•
µ-Law compression (mu-law compression)
•
Single channel (mono)
•
8000 Hz sample rate
The following section provides a procedure to open, edit, record, and save an
audio file using Audacity on the Windows operating system.
Requirements
•
Aastra Telecom recommends using a USB digital microphone in a quiet room
when performing the recording.
•
You must open and save the file at a sample rate of 8000 Hz in mono (single)
channel format.
•
When the recording is complete, you must save it in raw pulse code
modulation (PCM) format G.711 µ-Law.
•
You should have a list of the default greetings (in English) that the Aastra
CNX uses. You will need to read these greetings (in your desired language)
aloud as you are recording. See
Appendix A, “Aastra CNX Conference
Announcements”
for a list of the Aastra CNX announcements in various
languages.
Note:
You must retain these same characteristics in order to use the
language pack on the Aastra CNX.
