Cabling

Cabling
Cabling involves both internal and external connections onsite.
External cabling is the routing of cables for grounding, to power equipment and
other external devices. Internal cabling is the routing of cables within a cabinet
or between cabinets.
Use the fastener straps provided in material set 25/BYB 501/1 to fasten the
cables to the rack, cable chutes, and so on Page 93 .

Cable Connectors
Plug-ended cables are used for interconnecting subracks and for connecting
subracks to peripheral equipment. The cable connectors are connected to
contact units on the fronts of the boards or directly to the hardware units.
Four types of cable connectors are used:
•
A = Free fork connector (for example used for ELU33 and 34)
•
B = Connector 1/4
•
C = LAN cable connector (for example used for TLU76/11 and Ethernet/E1)
•
D = Free fork connector (for example used for DC/DC and TMU)
See Page 83.
5.2
Connector Positions
There are two types of boards in the Media Gateway Classic subracks, each
with a different type of connectors and way of defining connector positions:
•
Boards with cover
•
Boards without cover
5.2.1
Boards with Cover
The contact units in boards with cover are marked in numerical order starting
from 1 for the lowest contact position, 2 for the position above it and so on, as
seen in Page 82.
