2. Check that the generator is properly
grounded (Refer to “Ground the
Generator”).
3. Check the oil and fuel levels.
4. Turn the ECS switch (Black) to “
OFF
”
position.
5. Pull the choke knob fully out.
WARNING:
The choke is not
required to start a warm engine. Press the
choke knob full in.
6.Turn the fuel cock knob to “
ON
”
position.
Key starting:
7. Insert the key provided. Turn the engine
switch to the “START” position.
CAUTION:
Take your hand off the engine switch
immediately after the engine starts.
If the engine fails to start, release the
engine switch, wait a few seconds, then
try again. Each attempt should be as
short as possible as overheating and
damage can occur.
DO NOT
crank the
engine switch more than 5 seconds on
any one attempt. (If engine does not
start, refer to
TROUBLESHOOTING
in
MAINTENANCE
section.)
8. After the engine starts, warm up the
engine until the engine does not stop.
Then press the choke knob full in.
9. Allow the generator to run for several
minutes before attempting to connect
any electrical devices. This allows the
generator to stabilize its speed and
temperature.
NOTE:
When starting the engine in areas where
the ambient temperature is below 0°C
(32°F), the engine automatically operates
at the rated r/min (2800 r/min) for 5
minutes to warm up the engine regardless
of the economy control switch position.
The economy control unit operates
normally afterwards if the economy
control switch is turned to “ON” position.
