128 PPC11A 6U VME Single Board Computer
Publication No. PPC11A-HRM/1
A.2 Electrical Specification
A.2.1 Voltage Supply Requirements
The VME +5V supply is required on both P1 and P2 connector pins. The backplane
supply must remain within the specified limits as defined below. If this supply is
outside of these specifications at power-up, then the PPC11A will fail to start. If the
supply falls outside of these limits during a powered state, then the PPC11A is held
in reset and all on-board supplies are shut down.
CAUTION
The minimum power off time supported by the PPC11A is 1 second. Power outages of less than 1 second
may result in erroneous behavior from the PPC11A.
The VME ±12V_AUX supplies are not used on the PPC11A and are not monitored
but are connected to the PMC/XMC sites.

WARNING
Do not exceed the maximum rated input voltages or apply reversed bias to the assembly. If such conditions
occur, toxic fumes may be produced due to the destruction of components.
A.2.2 Current Consumption
Typical current consumption values for PPC11A are shown below. These are given
at cold-wall temperatures of +25°C and +85°C in a conduction-cooled environment.
Table A-3 Current Consumption
Temperature T1042 Processor @ 1.4 GHz T2081 Processor @ 1.8 GHz
+25°C
4.8 (24.2W)
5.9A (29.7W)
+85°C
5.7 (28.5W)
7.2 (36.2W)
The values were obtained by performing an XPT stress test in Yocto.
One serial port and one Ethernet port were active. Contact Abaco if values are
required for specific configurations.
NOTE
When using mezzanines, ensure that they do not cause the specified maximum supply current to be
exceeded. It may not be possible to support all combinations of mezzanines within this limit.
The +5VSTDBY supply may be used to power the RTC in isolation when the PPC11A
is powered down, to maintain the time/date information. This requires up to 1µA at
nominal 5V (4.88V to 5.25V). If operation of this device is not required when the
main supplies are powered down, no connection is required on +5VSTDBY.
