Mains chokes
Contents of this chapter
This chapter describes how to select and install mains chokes for the drive module.
The chapter also contains the relevant technical data.
When is a mains choke required?
The mains choke typically
• reduces harmonics in the input current
• reduces the r.m.s. input current
• reduces supply disturbance and low-frequency interference.
The ACL30 does not necessarily require a mains choke for operation. The need for
an external choke should be determined on a case-by-case basis. The drive modules
of frame sizes C and D have an internal mains choke as an option.
