Capacitors
The DC circuit of a converter module contains several electrolytic capacitors. Their
lifespan depends on the operating time, loading and ambient temperature. Capacitor life
can be prolonged by lowering the ambient temperature.
Capacitor failure is usually followed by damage to the unit and an input fuse failure, or a
fault trip. Contact ABB if capacitor failure is suspected. Replacements are available from
ABB. Do not use other than ABB-specified spare parts. Contact an ABB service
representative for spare parts and repair services.
Reforming the capacitors
The capacitors must be reformed if the drive has not been powered (either in storage or
unused) for a year or more. See section
