Smart port JD1 (Serial RS 232 / Sub D9 / Male)
The smart port JD1 located on the customer interface board is a RS 232 serial port. It is D-type connec-
tor, 9-pin male. The RS232 interface allows the user to connect the UPS unit to a computer and monitor
the UPS status by using the Wavemon software. Further it is used to download system event log and
make firmware upgrades.
The figure 5.3.4-1 shows how to connect a PC to the UPS with different Sub-D connectors.

USB PC / Laptop Interface
The Computer Interface USB has the same function as the RS 232 serial port JD1. Use either USB or
RS232 but not both at the same time.
5.3.3
Network management cards
The UPS can be equipped with Network inter-
faces cards allowing for the connection of the
UPS to the digital control system, SCADA, EDS
system by SNMP, Modbus RS-485 and Modbus
TCP/IP protocols.
The network management cards offers:
• Real-time monitoring of the status of the UPS
system via web
• Event log records in a log file
• Safety remote shutdown of the UPS
