Appendix A
Application Examples
This appendix contains application examples which demonstrate how to
configure the controllers for a number of typical applications. The examples are:
1
Level Control with Feed Forward and Gain Scheduling.
2
Temperature Control and Communication with COMLI.
3
Furnace Pressure Control with Three State Pulse Output and Position
Potentiometer.
In the step by step instructions, each parameter setting is shown according to the
following example.
Analog Inputs
→ ΑΙ1 → Μ
ode = 0–20 mA
Here the user first presses the Up and Down keys to select “Analog Inputs” where
he presses the OK key to accept the selection. Then he presses the Up and Down
keys to select “AI1”, and so on. The actual parameter setting is made in the last
step where “Mode” is set to the value “0–20 mA” in the example above.
The configuration steps can be performed in any order but are presented in the
general logical order inputs/processing/outputs.
Each configuration step is described in full, but remember that you do not have to
go back to the first level of the tree each time.
When you are analysing your own controller application you may find the
following procedure useful:
1
Make a rough sketch on ordinary paper.
2
Identify which blocks are needed to solve the problem.
3
Use a Configuration Work Sheet and connect the blocks by drawing lines
between the outputs and inputs (see Appendix E, Configuration Work
Sheet).
