Checks Before Turning on the Supply Power
Before start-up of the instrument check that
•
the coordination between the flowmeter primary/converter is correct (important for converters with fixed
flow range settings, flowmeter primary must be designed for AC technology),
•
the wiring was installed correctly in accord with the Interconnection Diagram, see Pages 14 to 18.
•
the earth connections of the flowmeter primary were properly made (see Operating Instruction Flowme-
ter Primary),
•
the data storage module (FRAM) from the flowmeter primary was plugged in the connection board in
the converter,
•
the ambient conditions agree with the limits in the Specification see Page 63,
•
the supply power corresponds to the values on the type tag.
7.2
Checks after the Supply Power is Turned On
•
that the parameter Primary Type in the converter (for older versions also the excitation frequency) have
been correctly entered in the submenu Primary and that the correct Operating Mode has been selected
, see Pages 25 and 28.
After Start-up:
•
that the flow direction indication in the display agrees with actual flow direction.
Example:
→
F: Forward
←
R: Reverse
•
that the parameters are configured corresponding to the operating conditions.
•
that the System Zero has been adjusted (see Section 7.4 zero adjustment).
•
that the contrast setting for the display has been adjusted for the local ambient lighting conditions. In
the submenu Display, adjust the contrast using the arrow keys Step/Data.
General Information
•
If the flowrate direction indication is incorrect, it is possible to correct the indication by reversing the sig-
nal lead connections. Interchange the connections to 1 and 1S with those to 2 and 2S at the flowmeter
primary. For flowmeter primaries with preamplifiers (DN 1–DN 8 [1/10”–5/16”]) only the connections to
terminals 1 and 2 are to be interchanged, U+ and U- are not interchanged.
•
The location of the fuses and their values are shown in Fig. 25 and Fig. 26. (See Pages 55/57)

Primary Setup
The special menu structure for entering data for an older flowmeter primary model, see Chapter 10.
7.4
Zero Adjustment
During the start-up of an older flowmeter primary model or when checking the system, the zero can be set
in the converter after the warm up phase. First the flowrate of the fluid in the flowmeter primary must be at
absolute zero. The meter pipe must be completely filled. Then the parameter „System-Zero” in the converter
can be used to manually or automatically adjust the zero. Select the parameter with ENTER, select „auto-
matic” with the arrow keys and initiate with the ENTER-key. The adjustment procedure takes approx. 60 sec-
onds and the value should be within the range of ±10%.
7.5
Detector Empty Pipe
It is not necessary to make an adjustment on-site if the DEP mode „Standard“ is selected. The converter
operates with the standard data settings. If it does not function correctly, then an adjustment must be made
on-site with the actual fluid. This adjustment can be made with a full or empty meter pipe.
See Page 30/31.
