Wet cleaning turbine and nozzle ring during operation
Prerequisites for turbine wet cleaning
In the case of V-engines with several turbochargers on each engine, we
recommend parallel cleaning of both turbochargers. This cleaning process
is faster and the risk of turbocharger surging is reduced. We recommend
finding the most suitable method by performing trials.
Recommended operating state for turbine wet cleaning
The following operating state and prerequisites have been tested and ap-
proved by ABB Turbo Systems for the cleaning process:
The engine has just been started or the engine load has been reduced
as far as possible (best cleaning is achieved at a load level of roughly
10 ... 15%).
As soon as the turbine inlet temperature is stable and below 430°C,
wait at least another 10 minutes for the charger parts to cool down.
