GLA531 Series LGR-ICOS™ Gas Analyzer
Operator Safety
When the front panel is closed and locked into position, the analyzer is a safe instrument. Operating the analyzer
in any other condition may damage the equipment or injure personnel.
WARNING!
When configured with the toxic process gas H
2
S, the exhaust of protective
gas (air) and process gas shall be routed to a safe area. In the event of loss
of protective gas to the pressurized enclosure, the process gas flow should
be shut off.
Do not operate the analyzer with the front panel open:
•
The front panel protects against electrical shock and accidental laser exposure to operators.

TM
Gas Analyzers with the purged-and-pressurized protection system for
flammable gas are designed to: 1) maintain a specific internal pressurization, 2) continuously dilute the
atmosphere inside the enclosure to prevent any ignitions, and 3) prevent fire and explosion hazards.
•
Do not bypass any safety procedures when the analyzer is extracting flammable gas or operating in a
flammable gas environment.
DANGER!
Bypassing the internal pressure switch and opening the front panel during
analyzer operations may cause serious accidents, and possibly fire and/or
explosion hazards.

WARNING!
REMOVE POWER BELOW 0.5 MBAR, 0.2 INCH OF WATER COLUMN. DO
NOT OPEN THE ENCLOSURE UNLESS THE AREA IS KNOWN TO BE
NON-HAZARDOUS, OR UNLESS ALL DEVICES WITHIN THE
ENCLOSURE HAVE BEEN DE-ENERGIZED. POWER MUST NOT BE
RESTORED AFTER THE ENCLOSURE HAS BEEN OPENED UNTIL THE
ENCLOSURE HAS BEEN PURGED FOR 18.2 MINUTES AT THE
SPECIFIED FLOW RATE. THE SAFETY OF THIS EQUIPMENT RELIES
ON THE PROVISION OF PROPER PURGING AND PRESSURIZING WHEN
USED IN HAZARDOUS LOCATIONS. IT MUST NOT BE PUT INTO USE
WITHOUT SPECIAL PERMISSION FROM THE INSPECTION AUTHORITY
HAVING JURISDICTION WHEN USED IN HAZARDOUS LOCATIONS.
