GLA531 Series LGR-ICOS™ Gas Analyzer
Fire Safety Provisions
Small amounts of methanol and acetone are used to clean optical components in the analyzer during
maintenance. The typical amount used is less than 25 milliliters per solvent. These solvents present a fire hazard.
Only use these solvents in accordance with local regulations and standards. Do not use these chemicals near
open flames, sparks, or heaters. Soaked wipes must be disposed according to the requirements of 40 CFR, local
fire department and environmental jurisdictions.
Follow these precautions when dealing with flammable chemicals:
•
Keep all chemical containers away from heat, sparks, and open flames.
•
Only apply on grounded equipment or components.
•
Use non-sparking tools when in contact with the chemical.
•
Store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated place, away from incompatible materials.
If a spill occurs:
•
Make sure all handling equipment is electrically grounded.
•
Mop or wipe up, then place all chemical-soaked items in containers approved by the US Department of
Transportation (DOT) or the appropriate local regulatory agency.
