Standard EN1838 requirement:
1.  Escape route up to 2m wide, 1 lux on the central 

axis and 0.5lux at 50% of the width.

2.  The ratio of the highest to the lowest illuminance 

along the cental axis of the escape route may not 
exceed 40:1
