UMC22-FBP
Universal Motor Controller UMC22-FBP
Software version 4.0
FieldBusPlug / Issue: 02.2008
V 6
Chapter 1.7~1
1.7 Compatibility
UMC22 versions 3.00, 3.10, 3.30, 3.31 und 3.40
In principle UMC22 is downwards compatible, this means a UMC22 of a higher version can be used
instead of an UMC22 of a lower version in an existing installation.
Recommendation:
It is recommended not to replace the confi guring (GSD or EDS) fi le by a newer version.
Reason:
Some programming tools / control builders for PLC / DCS have a problem:
When the confi guration fi le (GSD / EDS fi le) is replaced all slaves that are confi gured with this fi le need
to be confi gured again.
In doubt check with a separate small test program before replacing the old GSD / EDS fi le.
In this case the UMC22 works exactly like the preceeding / replaced old UMC22s -
but does not offer the newer functions.
Remark - UMC Version 3.30:
In existing installations the UMC22 V3.30 can repace the older Versions V3.0 and V3.10
with one exception:
If the parameter
Check-back = Auxiliary contacts
is selected the UMC22 sets the internal fault signal
when power-up.
Reason:
In older confi guration fi les (GSD, EDS) the former spare parameter no. 5 is set to 1. In the new UMC22
V3.30 this means that the DI0 Multi-function shall operate as Fault input. This represents a confl ict that
leads to the fault "Parameter out of range" (Control Panel: F004).
Action:
The only possibility is to set the parameter
Check-back = Current
for the new slave.
This remark can be ignored for UMC's of version 3.31 and higher.
Remark - ATEX:
UMC22 V3.20 as an ATEX certifi cied version can not be replaced by a non-ATEX version,
but only with version V3.5
Remark - UMC Version 4.0:
There is no possibility anymore to supply the UMC22 via Fieldbus-Plug interface.
The UMC22 must be supplied via the connectors 10 and 11
Section 3.8.2 (Replace the controller unit only) was removed. It is not recommended to replace
the controller unit from the current transformer unit separately.
The control functions (except thermal overload) can be changed without a power cycle.
