Reconnect the "Smart Access Point"
Connecting the "Smart Access Point" with the PC via LAN
Fig. 83: Connecting the "Smart Access Point" with the PC
Preliminary information / Preparation:
[A] If there is no router with a DHCP function in the system, the PC must be put into the same
IP address range of the "Smart Access Point" before calling up the start page of the "Smart
Access Point", see chapter 6.4.2 “Preliminary information: Adjusting IP addresses to a PC“
on page 103.
[B] If a router with a DHCP function is integrated, the IP addresses are managed automatically
by the router.
– The IP address range of the PC must not be adjusted manually.
– The IP address of the "Smart Access Point" assigned by the router can, for example, be
seen in the router or determined via a network scanner app.
The "Smart Access Point" always has the fixed IP address "10.0.0.1". This address is necessary
to communicate with the ABB-Welcome IP in the IP network. If a router with DHCP function is
active in the same network, the "Smart Access Point" operates in parallel as DHCP client. This
means that, if necessary, the router can be checked to see which IP address the "Smart Access
Point" has received from the router (with DHCP). The connection is then established via this IP
address:

10.0.3.1
…
10.0.3.254
In this address range also other devices, such as a camera, can use the 10-type addresses
without coming into conflict with the ABB-Welcome IP address range.
As soon as the "Smart Access Point" is supplied with voltage via the PoE switch, the device
boots up automatically. After the boot-up the "Smart Access Point" switches automatically into
the Access Point Mode (the LED lights up permanently red). The PC can be connected with the
"Smart Access Point".
