of the recording. The system calculates the out point if you
enter the length, or calculates the length if you enter the out
point.
STEP 6:
Press the Mode button and select Backup.
STEP 7:
Click on the Status button to start the archive. The drive
should begin to rewind or move forward, and then begin to
record video data. The Status button shows each frame as
it is being recorded, and the disk frame count or timecode
increments. Because of the tape recording process, a
transfer takes longer than the actual time of the video being
archived. When the drive has finished recording, Ready
appears on the Status button.
Recovering Video from Tape to Disk
The following procedure describes the steps necessary to recover
or transfer video from an Exabyte EXB8200, EXB8500, or EXB8505
series tape drive and record the video on disk. The procedure
assumes that you are starting with both Diskus and the Exabyte
drive powered down.
NOTE: You must restore the material in the same
format as it was archived.
STEP 1:
Turn on the Exabyte drive. Turn on Diskus.
STEP 2:
Select the Archive menu. Press the Device button and select
the device. A typical device shows as EXB85-4. This is an
Exabyte EXB8500 series at SCSI address 4. If the device you
want does not appear in the device list, press the Rescan
button to rescan the drive.
STEP 3:
For A60 format recovery, press the Format button and select
A60
.
STEP 4:
Click on the In button to set the in point on the disk to begin
restoring the video. This can be either in timecode or frames,
depending on the setting in the Timecode menu Display
parameter.
STEP 5:
Click on the Out button to enter the out point of the video
recovery. You can also click on the Length button to enter
