Viewing and Changing Clip Attributes
VideoTools lets you assign attributes to each clip if you have
SuperUser privileges. To view clip attributes, select a clip in the
Clip Handler dialog box with the mouse. Pull down the Edit
menu from the Clip Handler dialog box and select File atts. This
brings up a dialog box that shows the Clip Name, Owner, and
Group, and the protection attributes read, write, and execute.
Click on the protection attributes to assign protection to the clip.
Click OK to enter the changes.
Attaching Audio to a Clip
You may attach an audio file to a clip with the Clip Handler and
the Audio Panel. To attach an audio file to a clip, click on CLIP.
This brings up the Clip Handler menu.
Select a clip from the Clip Handler menu by double-clicking a clip
name. This brings up the Clip Details submenu. Press and hold
down the left mouse button and drag the pointer to select “Audio
attached.” Click on the Audio File button in the Clip Details
menu. This brings up a list of all the audio files (those with an .aiff
suffix) stored in the audio database directory. Select a file by
double-clicking on its name and then clicking OK.
The Clip Details submenu now shows the attached audio file and
its length. To play the clip and hear the audio from the
workstation speakers, click Goto IN, then PLAY>. Note that if the
audio file’s length is longer than video clip, audio continues after
video stops playing. You can pull down the Audio menu, select
Volume
, and adjust the output level.
The audio attachment may not start playing at the correct point
when the video clip starts. To correct this, select Change from the
Clip Details menu. This brings up a submenu that lets you enter
an offset (in seconds) between the time audio starts and the time
