Window Parameter Restrictions
There are certain restrictions on the values of window parameters
for certain data formats. These are enforced by the SCSI/Ethernet
protocol and may be adjusted from your original entry. To be sure
that window values are as expected, always read back window
parameters with Mode Sense after setting them with Mode Select.
The values returned are always the restricted values. Note that if
you specify window values outside the image area, the software
returns an error code (check condition/illegal request/invalid
field in the parameter list).
The following table lists these restrictions. Parameters must be
powers of the specified values or will be rounded to these powers
in the direction specified. A caret (^) in the table means that the
value is rounded up; a “v” in the table means that the value is
rounded down.

For the cases in which the software rounds up and down,
rounding down is performed first. For example, if you make a
request for a YUV window with parameters L=100, H=23, X=7,
and Y=5, the X parameter is first rounded down to 6, causing the
L parameter to increase to 101. Then the L parameter is rounded
up to 104, and the H parameter rounded up to 24.
These restrictions guarantee that all appropriate data is returned
to describe all pixels in the requested window fully.
