The three frame modes are defined as follows:
FRAME
: Diskus plays back two fields as a frame and keeps the
fields aligned as they were when you selected FRAME. When
using variable speed playback, Diskus selects field 1 and field 2
pairs as needed. When using the JOG keys or the Control Knob,
the disk moves a frame at a time. To change the two-field
alignment, press the +/- (trim) key once, then FIELD, then the
GOTO
key (this moves the disk forward one field). To step back
one field, press the +/- key twice, the FIELD key, then the GOTO
key. The interpolator function has no effect in frame or auto
mode.
AUTO
: Auto mode is the same as the Frame mode, with one
exception. In variable speed play mode, Diskus always selects
fields from the same frame of video. Use this mode when the
video is frame based (from film) and the playback is other than
normal speed.
FILM
: Film mode is available only in the 525 line standard. This
sets a special fixed speed playback mode. Diskus plays back
material recorded at 24 fps (frames per second) from the disk at
30 fps with a 3:2 interleave. This saves disk space because 24
frames require 1 second to playback. Playback is only possible at
1.0 speed for this mode, to maintain the 3:2 interleave. Because of
this, the interpolator function has no effect in film mode.
STOP
Press this key to stop Diskus playing either backward or forward.
You can hold this key down while pressing either PLAY key to
play the disk until you let go of the PLAY key.
