System Description
The Abekas Diskus
is a compact desktop digital disk recorder
designed to complement and enhance computer graphics
applications or video editing.
Diskus records and plays 10-bit CCIR 601/656 video, in either the
525 line 60 Hz or the 625 line 50 Hz standard, to maintain the
highest possible image quality. The line standard is switchable.
There are two record lengths available. The smaller one uses a
single disk drive, and has a capacity of over 30 seconds of video.
(The actual amount of time depends on the video standard.) The
larger, with two drives, can store over one minute. This version
also offers optional 4:2:2:4 (Video + Key) or 4:4:4 (RGB or YUV)
recording and playback.
Video I/O
A standard Diskus has a single input that accepts 10-bit CCIR
601/656 4:2:2 serial video on a BNC connector. Three outputs
provide one 4:2:2 serial digital and two analog component feeds
(one RGB and one YUV, also known as color difference or
Y/R-Y/B-Y).
An option provides a menu selectable analog RGB or YUV input,
an analog composite output, and a S-video component output.
This option is installed in the Main Chassis.
Other options include a real-time color space converter,
FluidFrame
advanced slow motion processing, and a
differential SCSI-2 interface.
