SCSI Commands
The Diskus rlogin shell supports these SCSI-related user
commands: mt, tar, scsiid, scsidevs, tara60, and scp. mt and tar,
which are standard Unix commands. All these commands (except
scp
) are available when connected to the DDR with the Unix
rlogin
or rsh commands. The scp command is used directly from
the Unix shell prompt. These commands should not be confused
with the CCS, which is also supported at the driver level.
mt
: used to control magnetic tape drive positioning.
tar
: tape archive command used to read and write archives.
scsiid
: used to change the DDR’s SCSI address.
scsidevs
: displays the SCSI bus configuration.
tara60
: used to read and write A60 format Exabyte tapes.
scp
: used to copy files directly between the DDR and a Silicon
Graphics workstation.
scpc
: used to copy file into workstation memory.
movie
: lets you play back sequences of images transferred
from Diskus to workstation memory in rapid succession.
yuv
: used to view YUV image files on the workstation’s hard
disk.
rgb
: used to view raw RGB image files on the workstation’s
hard disk.
scpyuv
: used to load a single image file directly, using SCSI,
into the workstation’s graphics memory.
SCSI File Transfer and Remote Control
The Diskus SCSI interface has many improvements over the A60
SCSI interface. Unlike the A60, which used a proprietary file
format, Diskus supports the standard Unix tar file format. This is
a feature unique to Diskus.
