The diskette labeled “Utility Diskette”, that comes with the package contains a utility
program for the CheetahWireless Bridge/Access Point. Updates can be downloaded
from Accton’s Web site at:
http://www.acctontech.com
Caution:
Backup your utility diskette and use the copy as the working diskette to protect
the original from accidental damage.
The WB3001A can be configured over an Ethernet network connection to its RJ-45
port. You may connect the WB3001A to any Ethernet device such as a hub or
switch. Run the utility program and configure the unit remotely as described below.
Windows Installation
(95/98/2000/Me/NT/XP)
1.
Insert the WB3001A utility disk into the floppy drive on your PC, and then enter
the following command: “A:\utility\setup.exe”. Follow the on-screen instructions
to install the utility program.
2.
When you run the installed utility, click on “Bridge/AP” and then select “Scan”
from the menu. The program will then detect all the WB3001A Wireless Bridge/
APs on the network.
3.
If DHCP is turned “ON” (default setting) and a DHCP server is located on the
network, then the Bridge/AP will automatically be assigned an IP address when
booted. Otherwise, you can manually configure a temporary address. From the
list of detected devices, select and double-click on the unit you want to
configure. The “Assign Temporary IP Address” dialog box will appear. The utility
will display IP information based on what it gathered from the network settings
on your computer. You may change these settings if required, or click OK if you
would like to use the IP information the utility generated.
