In the event of an RF or Sensor Error or long duration with no RF contact
between the Base Radio and any of the Field Units, the Base Radio will
output a Failsafe signal on the analog output loop.
The Failsafe has the option to be enabled/disabled and the option (if en-
abled) to output “high” or “low” mA signal. High is denoted as being
23mA and Low is denoted as being 3.6mA The factory default is disabled
and low.
7.2:
Selecting
the Failsafe Output
Example
If a GP-250 Field Unit was selected, you might
want 4mA to be equivalent to 0 PSI. Then you
would enter 000.00 under the SET LRV function.
But the process goes to a maximum of 180 PSI.
Then to increase resolution of the process variable
being monitored you might want the 20mA to be
equivalent to 200 PSI. Then you would enter
200.00 under the SET URV function.
Figure 7.2: Menu Map to the Failsafe Output Setting
The Single output option allows the user to select one of the Field Units on
the Base Radio Network, and then have that Field Units Input 1 ranged
over the 4-20mA output loop of the Base Radio.
7.3: Selecting Which Field Unit
is
Output
Figure 7.3: Menu Map to the Output Option Setting
Pressing the ENTER button while RF ID is displayed on the Base Radio
LCD will allow the user to enter the RF ID of the Field Unit to be output
on the Analog Output.
Once the Unit to be output on the analog loop is displayed press the EN-
TER button. This will display the RANGE selection as seen in Figure 7.3.
Pressing ENTER will allow the user to range the process variable Field
Unit with the respective RF ID.
The user will then be displayed SET LRV. This refers to the Lower Range
Value. To properly set this value you should press ENTER and enter the
Process Variable value you want 4mA to represent. Do the same for the
SET URV function. This will have ranged your Input 1 Process Variable
over the 4-20mA loop.
