Index of Symptom-to-FRU Error Messages
To use the information in this section to diagnose a problem:
1.
Find the error symptom in the left column.
2.
If directed to a check procedure, replace the FRU indicated in the check procedure.
If no check procedure is indicated, the first Action/FRU item listed in the right column is the most likely
cause.
NOTE:
If you cannot find a symptom or an error in this list and the problem remains, see “Undetermined
Problems” on page 80.
NOTE:
Normally, the processor fan should be operative, and the processor clock setting should be exactly set
to match its speed requirement before diagnosing any processor problems.
NOTE:
Ensure the memory modules are installed properly and the contact leads are clean before diagnosing
any system problems.
Processor/Processor Fan-related Symptoms

Processor fan does not run but power
supply fan runs.
• Ensure the system is not in power saving mode.
• With the system powered on, measure the voltage of the
processor fan connector. Its reading should be +12Vdc. If the
reading shows normal, but the fan still does not work, then
replace the heat sink fan.

Mainboard and Memory-related Symptoms

Incorrect memory size shown or repeated
during POST.
• Insert the memory modules in the DIMM sockets properly,
then reboot the system.

System works but fails to enter power
saving mode when the Power Management
Mode is set to Enabled.
• Enter CMOS Setup and load the default settings. In Windows
systems, check settings in Power Management Property of
the Control Panel.
• Reload software from Recovery CD.
