System Diagnostics
The System Diagnostics program allows you to test individual components and verify system integrity. It is also a
valuable tool for quickly identifying problems and solutions. This reduces support costs by minimizing time spent
on troubleshooting the system components.
To invoke the system diagnostics program:
•
Follow the Acer CPR procedure to start Acer CPR.
•
From the Acer CPR screen, click on the Diagnostics button. The diagnostics software will start to
automatically test the system components.
5.7 McAfee
VirusScan
McAfee VirusScan is an advanced desktop anti-virus solution. Once installed, VirusScan protects your system
from virus activity. If a virus is detected, VirusScan can attempt to remove it from the infected file, move the file
to a quarantine location, or delete the infected file. VirusScan helps protect one of your most important assets
the information on your computer.
VirusScan should also be considered as an important element of a comprehensive, overall manageability solution
program to reduce the Total Cost of Ownership. The program should include a variety of safety measures such as
regular backups, meaningful password protection, training, and awareness.
McAfee VirusScan performs the following:
•
Scans all subsystem areas
including floppies, boot sectors, file allocation and partition tables, folders, files,
and compressed files
to provide extensive security.
•
Accurately cleans most virus infections from files, master boot sectors, partition tables, and memory.
•
On-access scanning technology captures viruses on disk access, file copying, file creation, file renaming,
program execution, system startup, and system shut down.
•
On-demand scanning provides for user-initiated detection of known boot, file, multi-partite, stealth, encrypted,
and polymorphic viruses located within files, drives, and diskettes.
