1005).
Technical Solutions on Ensuring Radiation Protection
The System has the following design features to minimize radiation doses to personnel
and inspected persons:
-
X-ray generator protected by the housing;
-
built-in X-ray filter;
-
X-ray protective shutters blocking the X-rays output from the generator (option);
-
slit diaphragm system enabling to obtain a narrow fan-shaped beam;
-
highly sensitive X-ray detector;
-
dosimeter to control the dose received by a person in all operating modes of the X-
ray generator (option);
-
emergency stop button mounted on the X-ray tube module with a fixed position of the
red button that turns off the X-ray generator and stops the movable platform or con-
veyor belt;
-
red signal lamps on the portal, the status of which informs about the X-ray generation
and the beginning of the movable platform or conveyor movement.
In case of deviation from the conditions and parameters of the mechanism and electronic
devices of the System set by the manufacturer, as well as with their failure, the software disa-
bles the X-ray generator, as well as the X-ray protective shutter blocks the X-rays output from
the X-ray generator (when the X-ray protective shutter is used).
In case of the X-ray protective shutter malfunction, the high voltage supply to the X-ray
generator is excluded.
The software package tests the System upon its switching on and the scanning. Failure
reports are displayed on the monitor of the Operator’s AWS.
Periodic Monitoring of Radiation Leakage
Monitoring of the protective features of the System and the radiation situation at the personnel
workplace includes measuring the equivalent power of an ambivalent X-ray dose on the external
Upon completion of the scanning cycle, the X-ray generator is dis-
abled and the radiation from the X-ray generator is stopped by the X-
ray protective shutters (when the X-ray protective shutter is used).
A short-circuit to ground shall not result in the X-rays generating.
DO NOT REMOVE THE PROTECTIVE COVERS OF THE SYSTEM
OR PERFORM ANY OPERATIONS WITH THE INTERIOR OF THE
SYSTEM WHEN THE SYSTEM IS SWITCHED ON.
