Since each partition defined on the DuraStor is presented to all
hosts connected to the SAN, LUN zoning enabled FC HBAs must
be used to prevent contention over partition ownership. LUN
zoning allows each partition to be seen only by the host server that
owns it. See

Figure 3-32 on page 3-33
. This is done
in much the same way as LUN masking. The FC HBA in each
server is configured to allow the host operating system access only
to the partitions each server owns. All other partitions are hidden.
Caution:
In a multi-host SAN environment, you must use
FC HBAs that offer LUN zoning; otherwise, all of the
partitions will be presented to all of the host servers in the
SAN. If more than one host in the SAN attempts to write to
the same partition on the DuraStor, they will conflict,
causing data corruption or loss.
