INSTALLATION
Ensure that the ADC Soneplex Radiator II Housing case with cable stub (Above Ground or
Below Ground) is properly installed and connected. Refer to the
Soneplex Radiator II Housing
Installation Instructions
manual, listed at the beginning of this manual, for more information.
A typical catalog number for a below-ground case is
SPX-HRXC-30-BG-
a
16
bb
, or for an
above-ground case is SPX-HRXC-30-AG-
a
16
bb
, where:
a
=
0 or G
bb
=
GT – Gas tube protection
SS – Solid state protection
Maximum Density: 16
Note:
All slots in the ADC Soneplex Radiator High Density Repeater Apparatus case with
cable stub may be populated with H2RX modules. If some slots are unused, it is
recommended (but not required) that the H2RX modules be spaced apart to slightly reduce
their operating temperatures. In addition, for above-ground applications in which some slots
are unused, it is recommended (but not required) that the unused slots be positioned on the
sun-facing side of the H2RX housing. Other vendors’ multiple-slot repeater housings may
require that 50% or more of the slots remain empty, and that the H2RX modules be separated
with vacant spaces, in order to conform with Bellcore GR-487-CORE.
Danger
:
If the
HDSL2 Repeater (H2RX) enclosure is not grounded properly, the H2RX
housing may reach a high electrical potential (if a short occurs). This high electrical potential
will result in death or severe personal injury if anyone comes in contact with the H2RX
housing. In addition, if the H2RX is not grounded properly, the lightning protection for the
H2RX will be invalidated, the H2RX enclosure may become electrically hot if a short occurs,
the performance of the H2RX may decrease, and damage to the H2RX may occur. Make sure
that the H2RX enclosure is grounded following local practices.
Danger:
To avoid electric shock, be careful when working near HDSL2 loop connections or
telecommunications circuits. An electrical potential of ±130 volts exists on Version B HDSL2
loop connections and telecommunications circuits. Coming in contact with this high electrical
potential will result in death or severe personal injury.
Note:
If the H2RX is installed in the HDSL2 loop and is not grounded properly, HDSL2
loop activation
time may increase from less than 40 seconds to approximately 3 minutes.
1. Open the shipping carton and carefully unpack the H2RX module from the protective
material. Inspect the module. If damaged, file a claim with the commercial carrier and
contact ADC Telecommunications to reorder. See the Customer Information and
Assistance section of this manual for procedures.
2. Remove the dome from the apparatus case in accordance with the manufacturer’s
installation instructions.
