Principles of GUI operation
This chapter explains the principles of the GUI operation. A
detailed description of the workflow will be given in Chapter 3.
The main window
The main window of the A850 configuration GUI consists in the fol-
lowing components (see Fig. 14):
• A title bar (the header) including the actual release of the A850 as
well as the local IP address which has been set. The IP address rep-
resented in the header may differ from the address used as input in
the internet browser: this is the case if the A850 is placed in a LAN
behind an internet gateway (not an Adcon component). Please
contact your Network administator for setting up the internet gate-
way.
• A menu bar including the menus to invoke the provided func-
tions.
• A tool bar providing shortcut access to specified functions. It is
possible to customize the tool bar; this is helpful because the
defined tool symbols allow quick access to specific functions which
are harder to reach through the “regular” menu structure.
• Tree view providing access to all the objects of the actual config-
uration to be configured.
• Table view with a configurable column display to provide suffi-
cient information to identify the object to be worked on, depend-
ing on the selected node of the tree view.
• Context menus for the nodes of the tree view and the rows of the
table view providing functions to be performed on the underlying
object.
From this main window, the user can start the navigation to either
detailed views of objects or to other windows for issueing special
functions or to the extended search interface for retrieving a lim-
ited view of objects.
